Summary
MARADMIN Viewer does not transmit user data to Vice Robotics or an extension-owned service. It processes public MARADMIN website content locally and stores reader preferences and a bounded search index on the user's device solely to provide the reader, navigation, and on-device search.
Data processed and stored locally
- The active public MARADMIN page, including its URL and message content, is processed locally to create the reader view.
- Font, theme, text-size, system-appearance, and automatic-opening preferences are stored in Chrome local extension storage.
- On the first keyword search, the extension downloads public Marines.mil listing pages and a bounded set of message pages. It stores titles, MARADMIN numbers, dates, official URLs, retrieval times, and up to 80 public message bodies from at most 20 listing pages in extension-owned IndexedDB. The index becomes eligible for refresh after six hours and refreshes during a subsequent search when Marines.mil is reachable.
- Public messages can contain names, roles, telephone numbers, or email addresses published by Marines.mil. This content is indexed only to provide local search and is not separately profiled.
- The extension does not create or retain a history of pages the user visits. Its index is a catalog of public MARADMIN records, not a record of browsing activity.
Network requests and recipients
- The extension communicates directly with Marines.mil over HTTPS, with credentials omitted, for public pages, local-index refreshes, and exact-number or adjacent-message navigation.
- Keyword search terms remain on the device. Exact MARADMIN numbers are included in Marines.mil requests when the user requests that lookup.
- Marines.mil receives ordinary request metadata under its own practices. No MARADMIN content, search term, preference, or browsing record is sent to Vice Robotics, advertisers, analytics providers, or an extension-owned service.
- Choosing Share opens the official page's AddToAny destination and supplies the official page URL and title under AddToAny's own privacy practices.
Retention and deletion
Preferences remain until changed, cleared through Chrome, or removed when the extension is uninstalled. Indexed content remains until refreshed, cleared with Clear search index in Extension Options, cleared through Chrome, or removed on uninstall. A last available index can remain as an offline fallback when refresh fails.
What the extension does not do
No account, authentication, analytics, telemetry, advertising, behavioral tracking, sale of data, cloud parser, remote model, developer access to indexed content, or extension-owned backend.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data handled through Chrome permissions is used only for MARADMIN Viewer's disclosed reader, navigation, settings, and on-device-search features.
Security
All extension-initiated requests use HTTPS and are restricted to official Marines.mil public pages. Search terms and the local index remain on the device. The extension does not include remotely hosted executable code.
Changes and contact
Material changes will be disclosed in the Chrome Web Store listing and this policy before changed practices are introduced. Contact support@vicerobotics.com or use the MARADMIN Viewer support page.
